Farewell Melbourne <insert puffy red eyed devastated 'smiley' face>.  I really must stop being so cheap and getting the early bird flights - emotional 3am taxi rides to the airport are so not fun!!  In fact they are pretty awkward and embarrassing.  Me sniffling away whilst the taxi driver futilely tries to console me.  Yes I am sure I will make new friends, but does he not understand just how utterly amazing the friends are who I have just left behind?  Ok so that's all a bit melodramatic, but at 3am with no sleep and still suffering the after effects of a rather heavy (aka fun) weekend that's exactly how I felt... So from now on, no more red eye flights unless YOU ARE ALL COMING WITH ME, deal?!

Anyway couple of hours kip on the plane and I am safely landed in Cairns.  A nice comfortable 25 degrees, humid but no Monica hair (yet).  Had a walk around the town to get my bearings and booked myself onto Extreme white water rafting tomorrow.  Just as well seeing as the weather has taken a turn for the worse and it is peeing it down now, ah well can't complain it's not like I won't be getting soaked tomorrow anyway!

Anyways I ought to get off and socialise ... sorry this isn't the most thrilling first entry.

*** Creepy Crawly Update ***
1 small black fast thing with a white stripe on its body.  Now squished as a matter of health and safety.  Sorry Alex, you may like hugging spiders, but the ones up here tend to give you nasty flesh eating wounds rather than giving you super spidey powers!  Tried looking it up on the internet, scared myself by looking at other more nasty spiders and then promptly shut the window next to my bed!  I don't think this Queensland is going to cure my of my fear of spiders!

    About me

I've been on the road travelling for just over two years now, and what a fantastic couple of years it has been!  I'm now about to embark on a new outback adventure - working on a cattle Station in the middle of nowhere Australia!  Seeing as I won't have mobile phone reception I thought this would be a great way of keeping in contact and documenting my experiences.
